What electrical wire diameter (in mm²) is recommended for a standard outlet circuit (16A) in home wiring?

What product should you apply to bare concrete before painting to improve adhesion?

Answer: Bonding primer. Bonding primer seals the pores of the concrete and creates a receptive surface. Without it, the paint disappears along with your first wish.

What is the main benefit of using a torque wrench?

Answer: Meeting a precise tightening torque. A torque wrench avoids breaking screws or stripping threads by applying the exact force recommended by the manufacturer.

On sandpaper, what does "40 grit" mean compared with "240 grit"?

Hard questions

What tool do you use to drill a perfectly straight hole in wood without it looking like a mole tunnel?

Answer: A drilling guide and a drill. Without a guide, your hole will follow the path of a drunk pigeon. With a guide, you can finally look your father-in-law in the eye.

What is the DIYer's worst enemy?

Answer: The neighbor who knows everything. He always shows up at the worst moment to tell you: 'You should do it this way…' while you're already in the middle of wrecking everything.

What anchor diameter should you use to mount a 50 kg shelf into plaster?

Answer: 10 mm. For 50 kg in plaster, a 10 mm anchor (Molly or expansion type) is recommended. 6 mm? That's for picture frames.

What is the rule for calculating staircase step height (Blondel's formula)?

Answer: 2 × height + tread = 63 cm. Blondel's formula (2H + T = 63 cm) guarantees a comfortable staircase. Without it, you'll get unintended cardio with every flight.

What tool do you search for 20 minutes and always find in the same place?

Answer: In the pocket of the pants you wore 3 days ago. The tape measure follows its own organizational logic, totally independent of yours. It'll be there right where you stopped looking.

What is the correct way to use a gas torch (propane type) to solder copper pipes in plumbing?

Answer: Heat until the solder melts on contact with the metal (without glowing red). The right indicator: the solder should melt on contact with the heated metal, not the direct flame. If the copper is glowing red, you've overheated it and the solder won't be evenly distributed.
